Invitation to participate in the eTwinning 2017 Thematic Conference
The eTwinning 2017 Thematic Conference themed: Learning to think in a digital society will be held during 28-30 September 2017, in Athens, Greece.
The Thematic Conference aims at developing computational thinking competences. Computational thinking is a set of universal applicable competences that everyone, not just computer scientists, should learn and use, and this is highlighted in the European Framework of Key Competences for lifelong learning.
eTwinning, the largest network of teachers in Europe, has long promoted the ideas of innovation, creativity and critical thinking. Through this thematic conference – an overview of concepts and applications of computational thinking, their potential for those involved in compulsory education and how eTwinning can contribute to this process will be revealed.
The specific objectives of the event are:
- Introducing the use of computational thinking in education and how it will enable students to think differently while solving or analyzing daily issues from a different perspective.
- Training teachers to facilitate the use of computational thinking in teaching, including in eTwinning projects.
Only teachers who are registered on eTwinning Plus Moldova are eligible to apply.
Applicants are expected to:
- to know English, at a fluent / advanced communication level;
- to have experience in implementing eTwinning projects, at least 2 projects as of the date of application;
- to have information and communication technology (ICT) skills;
- to have the ability to design and run eTwinning projects with partner schools;
- to organise when coming back in the country at least one eTwinning promotion event where to share their experience;
- to have a laptop or tablet to use during the event;
- to hold the biometric or Romanian passport;
- to have not participated in another international eTwinning event in the last three years.
The number of places is limited.
The results of the selection will be announced via the eTwinning national website – http://e-twinning.utm.md.
The costs of attending the event will be borne by the East Europe Foundation (PSA Moldova).
