What is etwinning
eTwinning is the community for schools in Europe. This project provides staff (teachers, head teachers, librarians, etc.), working in a school in one of the European countries involved, with a platform on communication, collaboration, joint projects and information exchange. eTwinning has created a school without borders, a common educational space for teachers and pupils. eTwinning promotes school collaboration in Europe through the use of information and communication technologies by providing support, tools and services to project schools.
The eTwinning portal plus.etwinning.net is available in 28 languages and serves as a central point of contact for teachers, who develp with pupils eTwinning Projects in schools across Europe.
The portal also offers online tools for teachers to find partners, launch projects, share ideas and best practices. Thanks to all individual tools, each member of the community can build interesting and useful partnerships with teachers throughout Europe in an easy, convenient and quick manner.
Launched in 2005 as the core component of the European Commission’s e-Learning programme, eTwinning has become part of Erasmus +, the EU programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport, since 2014. The eTwinning Central Support Service is operated by European Schoolnet, an international partnership of 35 European Ministries of Education developing learning tools for schools, teachers and pupils across Europe. eTwinning is further supported at national level by 44 National Support Services ( 36 National Suport Services and 8 Partner Support Services).
