Project ideas

eTwinning projects are implemented, as a rule, between two schools, however the involvement of more schools is also possible. The projects can be based on academic or interdisciplinary subjects.

For example, for the subject Civic Education/Culture the following projects can be proposed: on the traditions of each partner country, the roles and responsibilities of pupils in partner schools, on pupil’s organization forms – e.g. Pupil Council, pupils making Powerpoint presentations, photos, holding interviews or sharing experiences with colleagues from the ‘twin school’ (partner school) via email.

Other projects can tackle environmental issues (e.g. what kind of environment we want to live in, how nature helps us and how we help it, which the main sources of pollution are, etc.), food issues (e.g. fast food, chips, etc.), hygiene issues.

Other examples:

* Mathematics – its application in everyday life

* Geography – the place where we live, the elements of environmental geography, the elements of economic geography, etc. (presentation, by using new technologies – photos, ppt, short films).

* Cross-curricular topics, for example, traditions, history and interculturality, the European Union – institutions, roles, implications for everyday life, etc., styles of life, legends, etc.

In the project gallery, available on etwinning.net, you can search for examples of projects based on subjects or topics, in different languages, from different countries.

Access: http://www.etwinning.net/en/pub/inspiration/gallery.cfm

You can also find on the website ready-made project kits that you can use as a source of inspiration, and you can adapt them to the specifics of your school, to the pupils’ interests and the to the school’s technical capabilities.

Registering a project

You can register a project in eTwinning Live, by accessing the website from your personal account (username and password).

Before starting a project or partnership, the partner must be on the contact list.

In order to register a project, while already having a developed sketch, the goals set, the actions that can help achieve the desired outcomes, assessment methods, etc., click ‘Projects’ on your personal page, then click ‘Create a new project’. The page that opens will show the steps to follow and the contact list from which you can select a teacher to be the project founding partner together with you.

On the right side of the page, put a tick against the name of the person to start the project with, and then go to the next step.

At this stage you will be asked to complete the project form:

  • title of the project;
  • short description of the project;
  • communication language of the project;
  • age range and number of the pupils involved in the project;
  • subject areas;
  • tools to be used (e.g. audio or video conferences, email, virtual lessons, forum, chat etc.);
  • aims;
  • work process – activities and working methods;
  • expected results.

Upon completion of this information, click ‘Preview’. Review the project sketch and make the changes, if necessary. Then click ‘Submit’. The project will appear on your page (My projects – Pending projects) and on the partner’s eTwinning Live page.

The founding partner will be notified of a project to approve if he/she agrees with the project or to reject it.

The project received will be approved or rejected on the projects or pending projects page, click on one of the options displayed next to this project.

As soon as the partner approves the project, it will be displayed on the pages of eTwinning national centres from the founding countries. The national coordination centre verifies the accuracy of the data, the relevance of the project, and approves or rejects the relevant partnership.

After registering a project, schools can print the label attesting partnership (eTwinning Label) directly from eTwinning Live. Schools gain access to Twinspace, which is an exclusive workplace for partner schools in this project (using twinspace is not required if you can carry out the project using other means of communication).

A registered project is displayed on the eTwinning map and can be selected to be shown in the project gallery. As the project reaches maturity, schools can apply for Quality Certificates or other competitions.

Good luck!
